If you’re new to hiking and would like to start easy within the Klang Valley, I’d definitely recommend Taman Tugu. It’s a forest park with well-maintained trails and minimal elevation, suitable for families with young kids! The trail is also the prettiest in my book so it’s a treat for your eyes too.

Bukit Kembara Hiking Dec 2017
Interestingly, the first time I heard about hiking at Bukit Kembara was from a petition to save the Bukit Kembara hiking trail. In Aug and Oct 2017, fences were built to block off access to the trail. You can read the news here and here. I’m not familiar with the fencing of the place so let me just tell you about my hiking experience there in Dec 2017.
It was a weekday public holiday and my friend wanted to hike Bukit Kembara after seeing another friend hike there. I jumped on the opportunity to explore because let’s be honest, it’s not very motivating to drive from Klang to Ampang (~50km) for a hike early in the morning by myself.
Trekking Cat Cat Village, Sapa in Winter (Jan 2018) – Part 2
Are you ready for Part 2 after the lengthy Part 1 about our 7-hour hike through 3 villages in Winter? I was so ready to rent the boots again but our tour guide told us it was not necessary for Day 2 of trekking. Turned out that our second trek was mostly to visit Cat Cat Village, which is a tourism village that charges an entrance fee.
I’m one of those tourists who like to visit tourist attractions (as long as it’s not too commercialized aka $$$ everywhere) because they tend to be tourist-friendly; convenient to walk and see, with local food that may not be too local (aka suit my tourist palate). Spoiler: Cat Cat Village is my kind of tourist spot.

Trekking Sapa, Vietnam in Winter (Jan 2018) – Part 1
Sapa. Honestly, I’ve never heard of the place until my friends suggested to travel there so I really don’t know much about the place. But many of my other friends seem to know and want to visit Sapa so I thought it’d be good to have one post about my 2-day trekking at Sapa. Especially because there’s not much info about trekking Sapa in winter on blogs.

Solo Hike at Setia Alam Community Hiking Trail Jan 2018
My first hike of 2018 turned out to be an impromptu solo hike at Setia Alam Community Hiking Trail. I’ve travelled solo to Taiwan last year April and kinda hiked solo to arrive at a shrine. However, it wasn’t like a 4.5km hike that I had today. Continue reading Solo Hike at Setia Alam Community Hiking Trail Jan 2018
Bukit Dinding Hiking Oct 2017
I created a list of easy hiking trails in Klang Valley that I wanted to go at the beginning of the year. Bukit Dinding hiking trail was the only unchecked one on the list until one fine Sunday!
According to online sources, Bukit Dinding is one of the tallest hills in Kuala Lumpur. I don’t know how true it is but being one of the tallest doesn’t seem to earn it any popularity. Continue reading Bukit Dinding Hiking Oct 2017
Bukit Sapu Tangan, Shah Alam Hiking
If you were to search for hiking spot in Shah Alam, it’s likely that you’d find Bukit Sapu Tangan hiking trail at the top of the list. In fact, besides the emerging Setia Alam hiking trail, I don’t remember learning about other hiking spot in Shah Alam.
The thing about Bukit Sapu Tangan is that it’s located in Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam; this means that you have to pay for the botanical garden’s RM3/pax entrance fee and RM3/car parking fee. Most hiking trails are free to access so this is quite a bane, especially if you plan to make this a regular spot. Continue reading Bukit Sapu Tangan, Shah Alam Hiking
Walking / Hiking at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam
Not sure if the 10.1km at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam or Shah Alam Botanical Park (also known as Taman Pertanian Malaysia) was a hike or a walk. Basically, we walked on hilly tar road to Empangan Sg. Baru, then hiked on forest trails to Empangan Air Kuning. We were checking out the attractions along the way too so it was rather leisure.

Hiking at Kota Damansara Community Forest Reserve
My mom is laughing at the way I walk now; I can’t straighten both my legs because my muscles are aching after hiking at Kota Damansara Community Forest (or Hutan Simpan Kota Damansara) this morning. It was a 3-hour 7.4km (two-ways) hike to the peak of Denai Tiga Puteri, overlooking NKVE highway!

Got Lost Hiking at Setia Alam Community Trail
I wrote about hiking at Setia Alam Community Trail during my first hike there six months ago; took Route A up and Route B down. I actually commented that going up Route A was not physically challenging with my 4-month-old surgery wound. Today, I’m not sure if I’d say the same.
