Day Trip to Carey Island, Jugra, Banting & Jenjarom

RK and I sometimes like to go on road trips because he likes driving around while I like roaming around. It’s normally a day trip with on-the-go itinerary (read: no itinerary), like the ones we did to Malacca, Ipoh, Tanjung Sepat, Sekinchan and Bukit Tinggi. At the back of my mind, I’ve always wanted to visit the Mah Meri in Carey Island and we were finally persuaded to go after reading this full-day itinerary blog post on www.parentwonder.com.

We only missed one location in the reference itinerary and added our own along the way. It ended up being a day trip to Carey Island, Jugra, Banting and Jenjarom within 6 hours, excluding drive time to and fro home in Klang. Sounded a lot but some were really quick stops so it can be replicated easily.

An Open Letter to A Youth Cancer Fighter

Dear Mei Mei,

I’ve only met you a few times during World Vision volunteering experience. I doubt we exchanged more than 20 words but you left a great impression on me — a joyous individual who brightens not just the children and families you advocate for but the team that works with you towards the same cause.

There is no doubt that you are the sunshine everyone needs in life.

Top 5 YOLO Travel Moments

YOLO. You Only Live Once.

Tonight my mind wonders wildly because I’m about to embark on a YOLO trip willingly. I bought flight tickets to Taipei, Taiwan for two weeks from now! This is the most expensive flight ticket I ever bought from Jettly, but it was worth the money. This is also the first time I’d be travelling solo. Too much anxiety. Also too much excitement.

As I think about this upcoming YOLO solo trip, I recall several YOLO moments and most of them happen to be from travel experiences.

Bukit Sapu Tangan, Shah Alam Hiking

If you were to search for hiking spot in Shah Alam, it’s likely that you’d find Bukit Sapu Tangan hiking trail at the top of the list. In fact, besides the emerging Setia Alam hiking trail, I don’t remember learning about other hiking spot in Shah Alam.

The thing about Bukit Sapu Tangan is that it’s located in Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam; this means that you have to pay for the botanical garden’s RM3/pax entrance fee and RM3/car parking fee. Most hiking trails are free to access so this is quite a bane, especially if you plan to make this a regular spot. Continue reading Bukit Sapu Tangan, Shah Alam Hiking

Cheap and Pretty DIY Temporary Tattoo

I didn’t think I would blog about the temporary tattoo that I got 2 days ago, until I got 2 inquiries within 1 hour on where to get a temporary tattoo (in my case, a sticker tattoo). I typically don’t get people asking where I buy my stuff so this deserves a blog post.

My sister came back from Jonker Street, Malacca with a new tattoo on her wrist. We’re not the type to get real tattoo so it was definitely a temporary tattoo. I thought it was an airbrush tattoo from her company event. Surprised to find out it’s a DIY sticker tattoo that she stuck on herself. She was wanting to get a permanent tattoo for a while which I out found while she was reading about a tattoo pain numbing cream which you can click here to read yourself, but as our skin is too sensitive: thus there was no scope for either one of us to get it done. How Post-Treatment Cancer Follow Up Feels Like

So I completed my Stage 3 Colon Cancer treatment (surgery and chemotherapy) 5 months ago, cleared my first follow up blood test 3 months ago, cleared my first follow up colonoscopy 2 months ago and just cleared my second follow up blood test today. Walking / Hiking at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam

Not sure if the 10.1km at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam or Shah Alam Botanical Park (also known as Taman Pertanian Malaysia) was a hike or a walk. Basically, we walked on hilly tar road to Empangan Sg. Baru, then hiked on forest trails to Empangan Air Kuning. We were checking out the attractions along the way too so it was rather leisure.
